Annually, Blair County Community Action Program has organized a Point in Time (PIT) Count for sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons. This PIT Count is overseen by HUD’S Continuum of Care and gives us a snap shot of people who are homeless on a particular night.
This year, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we are unsure what this will look like. The estimated date we will be on the streets conducting the counts of unsheltered people is January 26, 2022.
While we are out gathering this information, we want to be able to offer those who are homeless a care package. The purpose of this letter is to ask if you would like to donate any funds or gift cards to our PIT Count. Due to the COVID Pandemic, we are only asking for monetary donations and Gift cards. Our Goal this year is fill enough backpacks and purchase enough sleeping bags to be able to assist 100 homeless individual(s)/Families in our community. The Backpacks and Sleeping bags are also used year round, when we have individual(s)/Families that are in need.
Monetary donations can be made to Blair County Community Action C/O PIT COUNT. These funds will be used to purchase the sleeping bags, backpacks, and all of the items to fill the backpacks.
Gift cards are also greatly appreciated. We will distribute these to those who have no food for themselves and their families. Examples are Grocery Stores, Walmart, Dollar Stores, Gas cards and Fast food Restaurants.
Any contribution helps and I would like to thank you for your consideration in assisting Blair County Community Action on this evening. Donations must be received no later than January 7, 2022. If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call at 814-946-3651 Ext 105
