The Consumer Product Safety Commission is issuing a recall to strollers that can potentially break while in use.  Nonprofit group, Consumer Reports, says at least eight children have been hurt by the Mockingbird single-to-double stroller, claiming the product’s frame can snap with kids inside.  The CPSC says they are in the process of contacting all individuals known to have purchased the strollers.  The company is also offering customers a free frame reinforcement

Many restaurants and other businesses are offering discounts or freebies to say “thank you” to the military today, on Veteran’s Day.  Wendy’s is offering active-duty service members and vets a free breakfast combo from 6:30 to 10:30 this morning.  Starbucks is providing a free tall coffee and McDonald’s is giving away select breakfast and lunch sandwiches.  Applebee’s, Bob Evan’s, and Chili’s restaurants are offering free select menu meals to current and former military members.

An Altoona man was sentenced Thursday to 56 to 112 years in a state prison for possessing an extensive collection of child pornography and videos.

The Altoona Mirror reports that 31 year old Jeffrey Scott Snaman, had a collection included more than 1,500 photos and 124 videos.

The Blair County District Attorney’s office  asked for consecutive sentences adding up to the lengthy sentence the Judge imposed.

Snaman, who took the witness stand in his own defense at trial, denied owning the pornographic photos and videos that police found on his cellphone, laptop computer and related computer devices.

Snaman’s attorneys state they will appeal the sentence.

Officials say more than 17-thousand turkeys have been affected by avian flu in Lehigh County.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service lists the outbreak as affecting commercial turkey meat birds in Allentown.  The birds have been culled to stem the virus’ spread.  The federal officials say controls have remained in place as of Wednesday for outbreaks in three different areas.
