WJAC TV reports a Boalsburg man is facing multiple charges after attempting to strangle a person with a young child in the same house on Oct. 8, police say.

Police say 29 year old  Nathan Walk got into a verbal argument with the victim earlier that morning, and that Walk began to pack his things to leave.

Reports say the victim tried to speak with Walk,  but that is when he attempted to strangle them. The victim was able to flee with the infant to a nearby residence and call 911.

Court papers say Walk is now facing charges of strangulation, aggravated assault with attempts to cause serious bodily injury, terroristic threats, simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and harassment.  He is being held at the Centre County Prison with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 19.

The 58th Annual Bedford Fall Foliage Festival wrapped up Sunday as the two-weekend event came to a close.

WTAJ –TV reports more than 400 vendors attended the event this year.  The streets of downtown Bedford were still packed on the last day as visitors toured different vendors, tried different food options and listened to live music.

Vendors and organizers say that despite some rainy weather the first weekend, the crowd has been terrific for the entire festival and planning for next year’s festival is already underway.

A man with an arrest warrant was able to escape police custody on Saturday evening in Mifflin County.  WTAJ TV reports that officers with the Mifflin County Regional Police, responded Oct. 8 to the Minit Mart for a report that Richard Blystone was seen there. Police say Blystone has an active warrant for his arrest for failure to pay fines.

Officers located Blystone and took him into custody without incident, handcuffing him and placing him in the police cruiser.  When officers re-entered the store to retrieve Blystone’s belongings, he managed to crawl through the cage window and exit the police vehicle.

Blystone was last seen in the Reedsville area wearing a blue shirt with a black undershirt, jeans and a black beanie.  He is approximately 5’4″ and 135 lbs.

He is now charged with flight to avoid apprehension, escape, theft, and various drug charges.  Anyone with information regarding Blystone’s whereabouts is requested to contact the Mifflin County communications center.

The estimated top prize in the multi-state Powerball lottery has now topped 400-million dollars.  Four-hundred-one million dollars will be on the line when numbers are drawn tonight.  Pennsylvania players will learn at 11 p.m. if they’ve become millionaires.
