A woman has been charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence in connection with an April ATV accident in Clearfield County. Whitney Marie Kelly was under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and fentanyl when she crashed the ATV on Route 36 near Bethlehem Road in Mahaffey. Kelly’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21.

A Gallitzin man will serve 4.5 to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a June 2021 motorcycle crash that killed a Duncansville woman. David Kelly Myers was sentenced Monday. Myers also was placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring for 4.5 months, followed by six months of Soberlink Monitoring and 24 months of probation.

The Better Business Bureau is issuing a warning to Pennsylvania parents as the new school year starts.  The BBB says be careful when posting back-to-school photos online.  Officials say the pictures often include too much personal information.  They say to avoid too much personal information, especially which school your child attends.

A man is in the Blair County Prison, unable to post $100,000 bail, after his arrest on drug and gun charges. Sean Darrell Castaphney faces three felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, a felony charge of criminal use of a communication facility and a felony charge of possession of a firearm prohibited. As a convicted felon, Castaphney is not allowed to have a firearm.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire on 4th Avenue in Altoona. The fire started after 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25. The fire started outside the home and it was from a cable. A neighbor was the one who noticed the fire and was able to extinguish it using a garden hose. The fire department is still investigating what caused the fire to start.

Pennsylvanians reportedly have some of the highest student loan debt in the country. The Institute for College Access and Success says 64 percent of state college grads have student loan debt. Their figures show the average public debt load is a little over 39-thousand dollars.
