A Gallitzin man pleaded guilty to charges Friday morning after a 2021 deadly motorcycle crash. David Kelly Myers pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, DUI and a traffic violation after a woman was killed when she was stuck under his crashed motorcycle. Although his sentencing is scheduled for August 22, he voluntarily agreed to start his sentence on Friday.

A Port Matilda man who pleaded guilty to raping four Penn State students has been sentenced in a Centre County court Friday. Jeffrey Fields was sentenced to 29.5 to 61 years in prison after pleading guilty to 17 of his 19 charges in March. Fields will be seeing a minimum of 29 and a half years behind bars for these crimes he has pleaded guilty to.

A fire consumed a building in Clearfield County on Sunday morning. The blaze gutted the old Clearfield Glass shop, leaving it a shell of tin and charred wood. There were no injuries. The State Police investigation is ongoing.

A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Route 764. Joshua Moyer was traveling north on Route 764, and as he approached the UPS entrance, a female driver pulled out into Moyer’s travel lane. The crash closed a portion of Route 765 between Burns Avenue and Sugar Run Road on Thursday afternoon.

The newly-approved state budget’s tax code reform package offers benefits to veterans and small businesses. It includes caps on tax credits, deductions and deferrals for like-kind exchanges of property, and exempts Gold Star families from inheritance taxes.
