A man was sent to the hospital Wednesday after being rescued from the Conemaugh River in Johnstown. Emergency crews were sent to the river in the Coopersdale area to help police take the man into custody. The Johnstown Fire Department said the man jumped into the river after he was deemed a suspect in a shots fired incident in the city. He is in police custody.

State police are investigating after more than $2,000 worth of items were stolen from a property in Elk County during the month of May. State police arrived to a property off of Hayes Road in Fox Township and learned that someone stole three items, a Stihl 660 chainsaw with a 34 inch bar, a catalytic converter and also a steel single axle cart. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Pennsylvania is currently five dollars and 4 cents. The national average is four dollars and 97 cents.

A Gallitzin man is facing charges after a woman was killed in 2021 from being pinned under a crashed Harley Davidson. State police are charging 58-year-old David Kelly Myers with involuntary manslaughter, DUI and disregard to a single traffic lane in regard to a deadly crash on June 20, 2021.

The Pennsylvania hunting and trapping season licenses are set to go on sale June 13. The new license year, beginning on July 1, includes seven weeks of archery deer hunting, a firearms deer season and chance to hunt trophy black bears. Prices remain unchanged at $20.97 for Pennsylvania residents and $101.97 for nonresidents.

Official tallies from the statewide recount for the republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania have been released. The formal results Wednesday show celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz narrowly defeating former hedge fund CEO David McCormick.  State election officials say Oz won by 951 votes out of more than one-point-three million cast in the May 17th primary election.
