Slash 5/24/22

Slash shed light on how he deals with fame. The legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist who has been a household name for 35 years now spoke to Goldmine and was asked how his notoriety fits into his life: “It’s an interesting question, because someone like me, who is not really into fame for fame’s sake or that kind of thing, you have to appreciate that your path has brought you to having whatever recognition for whatever it is that you do. Y’know, you have to appreciate. . . when someone has some sort of attachment to you for what you produce.”

He went on to say, “I might not always be comfortable in a public situation, because my personality doesn’t lend itself to that. But I always appreciate the fact that it’s because of whatever I did musically. It’s a double-edged sword kind of thing. I don’t like the sort of attention. If I’m not playing guitar, I try not to draw attention. But at the same time, you can’t resent it, because it means something for what it is that you do.”

Slash told us a while back that finally becoming a father helped settle him down: [“I never actually was one of those guys that said I’m gonna be single forever and never have children. I just never made plans for it, so when it happened, it was, like, at the perfect time in my life. It’s like, if it had happened a second earlier, I couldn’t have handled it, ’cause I was too out there. Then when the kids came, it actually sort of secured me, more than anything.”] SOUNDCUE (:17 OC: . . . more than anything.)

Guns N’ Roses kick off its European tour on June 4th in Lisbon, Portugal at Passeio Martimo De Alges.
