The Blair County DUI Task Force will be conducting multiple events this week to promote safe driving. There will be sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols, with officers in uniform and also in marked police vehicles. Officers will also either be in six pack stores or distributors, dressed in uniform or as customers or employees in order to deter liquor law violations.

A Clearfield man is behind bars after he allegedly stole a car and was caught on I-80 near the Ohio border. Dewey Smallwood faces charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and also driving with a suspended license. Smallwood is currently in Clearfield County Prison.

Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman is out of the hospital following a stroke more than a week ago.  His wife shared a video of the Senate hopeful flashing thumbs up as he walked out of Lancaster General Hospital Sunday.  Fetterman won the Democratic primary while he was being treated.

A man was killed Thursday in Bedford County after he went down an embankment and was thrown off his motorcycle. Chadwick Ewald was driving his 2019 Harley-Davidson Sportster in East Saint Clair Township when he failed to take a left hand curve and hit a highway reflector. He then continued down an embankment before being thrown off his bike for 40 yards. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A new study released by federal highway officials shows a marked increase in traffic deaths in the state last year. Pennsylvania saw a little over 12-hundred traffic deaths in 2021, up more than nine percent from the year before.  The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration also says pedestrian fatalities were up 13 percent.

Pennsylvania motorists continue to pay higher-than-average prices to fill their gas tanks.  The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Pennsylvania is four dollars and 77 cents, while the national average is four dollars and 59 cents.
