A Philipsburg woman reported that $80,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a residence in Rush Township and police are now looking for answers. The woman reported that two valuable items went missing from the residence on Oakwood Drive sometime between Oct. and Feb. 13. The items were a gold Rolex watch and a silver in color diamond ring. A Bellefonte man will see almost 100 months behind prison bars after allegedly trying to sell almost 290 grams of meth and other drugs. Ryan King pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine and LSD with the intent to distribute them to others. After an investigation by state police, he was found with 286 grams of methamphetamine, nearly two grams of liquid LSD, drug paraphernalia and also a .22 caliber handgun.
The Wolf Administration is now taking application for grants to help rural areas get more protection from wildfires. State officials say local fire fighting forces in communities with fewer than 10-thousand residents qualify for over 12-thousand dollars each for training and equipment purchases.
A city man faces charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle. Javier Cantos Jr. allegedly stole a vehicle from the parking lot of the Chestnut Avenue Sheetz. The owner of the vehicle parked it and left it unlocked and running, entered the store and noticed it was missing upon returning to where he parked. Police reviewed security camera footage, which showed Cantos stealing a soda from the store and then stealing the vehicle.
State agriculture officials say the spotted lanternfly is once again spreading. The state experts say the red and grey bug with black spots is extremely invasive and poses a threat to Pennsylvania’s agricultural economy. If you see the bugs, the department of agriculture says to squash them, and especially destroy their eggs.
