GOVERNOR TOM WOLF UNVEILED IS 2021 BUDGET FOR PENNSYLVANIA YESTERDAY, AND REPUBLICANS FIRED BACK AFTER IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT A MASSIVE TAX HIKE IS INCLUDED. THE GOVERNOR WANTS TO RAISE THE PERSONAL INCOME TAX TO HELP FUND PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION. SEVERAL LAWMAKERS SCOFFED AT THAT PROPOSAL.

 

STATE HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER KERRY BENNINGHOFF OF CENTRE COUNTY BLASTED THE TAX HIKE PROPOSAL, SAYING THAT THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO RAISE TAXES ON MILLIONS OF RESIDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC, AND HIS SHUTDOWN ORDERS. BENNINGHOFF SAYS THAT A TAX INCREASE WILL NOT SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS.

 

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE BRYAN CUTLER, ALSO BLASTED GOV WOLF FOR HIS TAX HIKE PROPOSAL. CUTLER SAID THAT INSTEAD OF A TAX HIKE, GOV WOLF SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON GETTING THE COVID-19 VACCINE OUT TO RESIDENTS, AND RAMPING UP GETTING DOSES OUT TO THE PROPER INSTITUTIONS SO THEY CAN GET PEOPLE VACCINATED.

 

RICHARD SCHREIBER OF EVERETT HAS BEEN GIVEN 40 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SELLING ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND AMMO AS PART OF A GUN SELLING SCHEME. THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT SCHREIBER SOLD WEAPONS THAT ENDED UP BEING USED IN 4 HOMICIDES IN PHILADELPHIA. THE GUNS CAME FROM A FACILITY IN WEST VA OPERATED BY THE BUREAU OF ALCOHOL TOBACCO AND FIREARMS.

 

TWO SCHOOLS IN INDIANA COUNTY WERE IN LOCKDOWN MODE YESTERDAY AFTER REPORTS OF A SHOOTING SURFACED. THE HOMER CENTER ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOLS WERE LOCKED UP AFTER THE REPROT WAS RELEASED. THEY REMAINED IN LOCKDOWN FOR AN HOUR. NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE INCIDENT.

 

A FREE COVID-19 TESTING CLINIC WILL OPEN IN BLAIR COUNTY TOMORROW. THE CLINIC WILL BE HELD AT THE BLAIR COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER FROM 9AM-6PM THRU TUESDAY. PATIENTS MUST BE 3 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER, NO APPONTMENT IS NECESSARY, AND IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. ADULTS ARE ASKED TO BRING A PHOTO ID OR AN INSURANCE CARD. THE CLINIC WILL TEST SOME 450 PEOPLE PER DAY.
