The State Department of Health yesterday confirmed 995 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the statewide total to 91,299 with 33 new deaths totaling 6,787. The total number of cases in Blair County stands at 78 confirmed and 11 probable with one death.

Yesterday’s reported spike in coronavirus cases is primarily due to 400 backlogged cases from Philadelphia and Allegheny County added to the tally, as well as 200 additional cases from Allegheny County.

The State Department of Labor and Industry continues to make progress processing unemployment compensation claims.

A joint law enforcement operation nabbed two persons in Altoona yesterday who were charged with major drug offenses.
