The Who, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, and Dead & Company, are among the acts already on board to perform at the 2020 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Jazz Fest runs over two weekends: April 23rd through 26th, and April 30th to May 3rd.
Additional artists set to perform include Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Nile Rogers & Chic, Lionel Richie, the Beach Boys – featuring Mike Love & Bruce Johnston, John Prine, the Black Crowes, and Jimmy Cliff.
Pete Townshend said that despite modern technology separating and isolating people, music festivals still serve a crucial human need: [“We do want to be together. I think that’s what we want. I think the human race multiplies, music is about congregation, it’s about gathering, it’s about sharing — and it’s about knowing who you’re not like.”] SOUNDCUE (:12 OC: . . . you’re not like)
We asked Dead drummer Mickey Hart about the vibe on the road these days with the band: [“There’s really hardly any words to describe it. It’s so good now — we finally know how to do it, I think, after 50-some-odd years. I think we finally figured it out (laughs). And, it’s real smooth. John (Mayer’s) a great guitar player and, y’know, playing with Bill (Kreutzmann’s) a joy — always has been, always will be — and Bob (Weir), he’s doing really well these days. And so, I’m a happy little puppy.”] SOUNDCUE (:25 OC: . . . happy little puppy)
