Foreigner, Whitesnake, and special guests Europe have just announced a six-date UK run for the spring of 2020. The bands will hit arenas in London, Birmingham, Newcastle, and Manchester, England; as well as stops in Cardiff, Wales and Glasgow, Scotland.
Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones said in the tour announcement, “We can’t wait to kick off the summer in the UK with a massive tour alongside our friends Whitesnake and Europe. We’re looking forward to playing all our biggest hits for our fans, and rocking across the country.”
Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale said: “Thrilled beyond words we can finally come see you all in the UK! It’s going to be one helluva night together! With our friends Foreigner and Europe! Can’t wait! See you soon!”
Europe’s Joey Tempest added, “What an explosive start to the summer of 2020 for us! A UK arena tour with our friends in Whitesnake and Foreigner! Yeah! An evening of some of the biggest anthems in classic rock! We are truly honored to be invited as special guests.”
We asked Mick Jones if there’s a tried and true moment when he knows he’s on the path to writing a future rock standard: [“I had that feeling, definitely, with ‘I Want To Know What Love Is.’ I also had it with ‘Waiting For A Girl Like You,’ y’know, those songs come along. ‘Hot Blooded’ was a natural. There’s a number of them that I felt — y’know, you can never know really, but I can only judge by the goose-bump factor. If I am moved myself — and I’m a very hard, tough judge — then I know that there’s a good chance that it did something special, and then most of the time that have been. They just had somehow the ability to reach a lot of people.”] SOUNDCUE (:30 OC: . . . lot of people)
David Coverdale told us that he’s not surprised Whitesnake is still a popular concert draw: [“Well, I know I still sell records, because I live very well (laughs). I still sell records around the world — I’m over 60 million albums now, which is pretty cool — so there’s not really an economic necessity to go back to work. This is just a lot of fun for me, and I’m doing okay.”] SOUNDCUE (:15 OC: . . . I’m doing okay)
Foreigner will next perform with the Nashville Symphony on January 16th, 17th, and 18th at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Whitesnake kicks off its next string of shows on February 19th in Melbourne, Australia.
