Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron has reportedly launched some sort of new musical project with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. The two appeared in brief video clips from the studio, along with Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne.
No other details about the project have surfaced yet. Cameron has always been involved with different projects and artists over the years when not busy with Soundgarden or Pearl Jam, and released a solo album called Cavedweller in late 2017.
Cameron’s active involvement with Soundgarden came to an end with the death of singer Chris Cornell in May 2017. Pearl Jam, meanwhile, is said to be working on a new album.
Cameron told us a while back that he’s never strayed far from his roots as a musician: [“We started out very humbly here in the Northwest, and I don’t think we’ve ever really gone too far from those sort of ideals, which were real do-it-yourself, ’80s underground ideals.”] SOUNDCUE (:13 OC: . . . ’80s underground ideals.)
Hawkins has also launched several side projects when not working with the Foos, including the Coattail Riders, the cover band Chevy Metal and more recently The Birds Of Satan.
