Motley Crue stirred things up on New Year’s Eve by posting the date of the Super Bowl (February 3) and the words “#ad.” They followed it up with, “2019 is going to be EPIC!” Some fans suspected that an ad will run during the game for the movie, The Dirt, while a few suspected a performance.
The Crue recently recorded four new songs for the movie. Bassist Nikki Sixx described the music as “real and raw.” And posted, “Everybody is playing like mad and the songs crush. Plus, we have a surprise that will confirm that we’re outta our minds.”
The surprise is expected to be related to the film adaptation of the group’s biography, The Dirt – Confessions of The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, which is due in March.
- The movie will reportedly star Daniel Webber (The Punisher) as singer Vince Neil, Douglas Booth as Sixx, Machine Gun Kelly as drummer Tommy Lee, and Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as guitarist Mick Mars. Playing rock and roll legend Ozzy Osbourne in the film is actor-comedian Tony Cavalero, while Rebekah Graf (The Amityville Murders, Lycan) is playing actress Heather Locklear, ex-wife of Tommy Lee.
- In 2015, they performed a total of 164 shows in 72 markets, grossing over $100 million.
- In 2014 they publicly signed a “cessation of touring” contract that prevents any of them from performing under the Crue name in the future.
