BISHOP GUILFOYLE PLACEKICKER KOLTEN McGHEE WAS NAMED TO THE 2018 AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE ALL-USA PENNSYLVANIA FOOTBALL TEAM FOR THE 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR. McGHEE AVERAGED OVER 46 YARDS PER PUNT THIS SEASON FOR BG, ALONG WITH 32 TOUCHBACKS ON KICKOFFS. McGHEE SIGNED A LETTER OF INTENT TO ATTEND WEST VIRGINIA ON A SCHOLARSHIP.

 

ALL STATE TEAMS WERE ANNOUNCED FOR CLASS 2, 4 AND 6A YESTERDAY. SOPHOMORE LOGAN PFISTER OF CHESTNUT RIDGE AND MACEN AKERS OF EVERETT WERE BOTH NAMED TO THE 2A ALL STATE TEAM. PFISTER AND AKERS THREW FOR MORE THAN 1700 AND 1400 YARDS RESPECTIVELY THIS SEASON. THEY ALSO FACED EACH OTHER IN THE DISTRICT 5 2A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN NOVEMBER. THE REMAINING 3 ALL STATE TEAMS SHOULD BE ANNOUNCED TODAY.

 

BISHOP GUILFOYLE RAN ITS RECORD TO 7-0 WITH A 72-65 VICTORY OVER CONNELLSVILLE IN THE GREENSBURG-SALEM HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT LAST NIGHT. THE MARAUDERS HIT 9 3 POINT FIELD GOALS IN PICKING UP THE WIN. BG WILL FACE CITY RIVAL ALTOONA TONITE AT THE FIELDHOUSE AT 6:30.

 

TYRONE ADVANCED TO THE FINALS OF THE NORTHERN BLAIR KIWANIS TOURNEY BY BEATING TUSSEY MT. LAST NIGHT 75-36. DAMON GRIPP LED TYRONE WITH 15 POINTS.

 

CAMBRIA HEIGHTS WON ITS OWN HOLIDAY TORNEY DEFEATING GLENDALE 62-32. HUNTINGDON TOOK THE LIONS TOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP WITH AN 80-70 VICTORY OVER JUNIATA VALLEY.

 

IN GIRLS ACTION, JUNIATA VALLEY BEAT HUNTINGDON 58-25 TO CAPTURE THE HUNTINGDON LIONS TOURNEY. MOSHANNON VALLEY DEFEATED WILLIAMSBURG 41-37 TO WIN THE WILLIAMSBURG TOURNEY. SHALER BEAT HOLLIDAYSBURG IN THE PENN HILLS SHOOTOUT 46-41. TYRONE BEAT TUSSEY MT. 61-37 IN THE NORTHERN BLAIR KIWANIS TOURNEY.
