AN INSPIRATING STORY FROM STATE COLLEGE HAS A SAD ENDING. 14 YEAR OLD JOSIAH VIERA, WHO WAS A FIXTURE ON THE STATE COLLEGE SPIKES BASEBALL TEAM, DIED ON CHRISTMAS EVE. JOSIAH DIED FROM HUTCHINSON-GILFORD PROGERIA, A RAPID AGING OF THE BODY. JOSIAH WAS A MEMBER OF THE SPIKES COACHING STAFF, AND WAS AT MANY SPIKES GAMES OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. MANY IN THE STATE COLLEGE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING JAMES FRANKLIN WERE SADDENED TO HEAR OF JOSIAH’s PASSING. HIS STORY WAS FEATURED IN 2013 ON THE ESPN PROGRAM “E-60”.

 

PENN STATE HAS LANDED ITS FIRST 4 START RECRUIT FOR THE 2020 SEASON. IT IS BEING REPORTED THAT THE LIONS HAVE RECEIVED A VERBAL COMMITMENT FROM DEREK WINGO, A 6’5 215 LB LINEBACKER FROM FT. LAUDERDALE, FLA. WINGO IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE 10TH BEST PLAYER AT HIS POSITION ACCORDING TO 24/7 SPORTS. WINGO HAD OFFERS FROM 11 OTHER SCHOOLS INCLUDING PITT, OHIO STATE AND MICHIGAN.
