THREE AREA TEAMS BROUGHT BACK PIAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS OVER THE WEEKEND. THE BEDFORD GIRLS SOCCER TEAM WON THE CLASS 2A SOCCER TITLE WITH A 1-0 SHOOTOUT WIN OVER LEWISBURG ON SATURDAY IN HERSHEY.

 

NORTHERN CAMBRIA AND BALD EAGLE AREA ALSO BROUGHT BACK 2 VOLLEYBALL STATE TITLES TO DISTRICT 6. NORTHERN DEFEATED BERLIN 3-1 TO WIN THE CLASS 1A TITLE, WHILE BALD EAGLE BEAT HOLY REDEEMER 3-0 TO WIN THE CLASS 2A TITLE.

 

IN FOOTBALL, THERE WERE A HOST OF GAMES SATURDAY AND SUNDAY BECAUSE OF LAST WEEKS FREAK WINTER STORM.

 

IN CLASS 1A, JUNIATA VALLEY WILL MEET UNITED FOR THE DISTRICT 6 TITLTE THIS WEEK AT MANSION PARK. JUNIATA VALLEY BEAT BG ON SATURDAY AND UNITED BEAT NORTHERN CAMBRIA YESTERDAY.

 

IN CLASS 3A, BALD EAGLE AREA MOVED ON TO THE PIAA SECOND ROUND WITH A 35-14 WIN OVER BEDFORD. BALD EAGLE WILL MEET SHARON THIS WEEKEND. IN CLASS 5A. HOLLIDAYSBURG IS ON TO THE QUARTERFINALS. THE TIGERS BEAT WALLEMPAUPACK ON SATURDAY, AND WILL NOW TAKE ON ARCHBISHOP WOOD, AND STATE COLLEGE IS IN THE 6A QUARTERFINALS. THE LITTLE LIONS WILL PLAY PINE RICHLAND EITHER FRIDAY OR SATURDAY. AND IN CLASS 2A, UNDEFEATED RICHLAND WILL TAKE ON WEST CATHOLIC OF PHILADELPHIA.
