HOLLIDAYSBURG AND BISHOP GUILFOYLE ARE THE 2 REMAINING BLAIR COUNTY TEAMS STILL ALIVE FOR PIAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS. BOTH WILL BE ON THE ROAD THIS WEEK, AS PLAYOFFS CONTINUE. BG WILL TRAVEL TO ALEXANDRIA TO MEET JUNIATA VALLEY ON SATURDAY NIGHT, IN THE DISTRICT 6 CLASS 1A SEMI FINALS. MEANWHILE, THE TIGERS WILL TRAVEL TO DANVILLE TO TANGLE WITH  WALLENPAUPACK IN A CLASS 5A STATE PLAYOFF GAME ON FRIDAY NIGHT.

 

A COMPLETE PLAYOFF SCHEDULE WILL BE LISTED ON FRIDAY MORNING.

 

NOT A GOOD WEEKEND FOR LOCAL COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAMS. IUP LOST ITS SEASON FINALE 45-21 TO SHIPPENSBURG, FINISHING THE SEASON WITH AN 8-3 RECORD. IUP FINISHED IN THE FINAL 4 OF DIVISION 2 A YEAR AGO. ST FRANCIS LOST TO CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE AT HOME ON SATURDAY 30-14, FALLING TO 4-6 AND WILL FINISH THE SEASON AT SACRED HEART ON SATURDAY. AND THE 2018 SEASON FOR JUNIATA CAME TO A CLOSE ON SATURDAY WITH A 24-6 LOSS AT SUSQUEHANNA. THE EAGLES FINISHED 0-10.

 

PENN STATE MOVED UP 5 SPOTS IN THE LATEST AP TOP 25 FOOTBALL POLL. THE LIONS ARE NOW RANKED 16TH IN THE COUNTRY, AND WILL TRY TO IMPROVE ON THAT RANKING THIS SATURDAY WHEN THEY TRAVEL TO NEW JERSEY TO TAKE ON RUTGERS.

 

THE PENN STATE WOMENS BASKETBALL TEAM TOOK ONE ON THE CHIN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. NUMBER 24 CALIFORNIA CAME INTO STATE COLLEGE AND BEAT THE LADY LIONS 75-58. SIYEA FRAZIER LED PENN STATE WITH 17 POINTS. ALISIA SMITH CHIPPED IN WITH 10 POINTS AND 11 REBOUNDS. PENN STATE IS NOW 1-1.
