THE 42-7 LOSS BY PENN STATE AT MICHIGAN ON SATURDAY DROPPED THE NITTANY LIONS IN BOTH WEEKLY POLLS. THE LIONS ARE NOW 20TH IN THE AMWAY COACHES POLL AND 21ST IN THE AP POLL. PENN STATE WILL NOW GEAR UP FOR A MEETING WITH WISCONSIN THIS SATURDY AT BEAVER STADIUM. KICKOFF HAS BEEN ANNONCED FOR 12 NOON.

 

IN LOCAL COLLEGE FOOTBALL, THE IUP CRIMSON HAWKS CONTINUE TO WIN. THE HAWKS SCORED A 4TH QUARTER TOUCHDOWN TO DEFEAT EDINBORO 13-6 IN PSAC CONFERENCE PLAY. INDIANA IS NOW 8-2 ON THE SEASON. THE ST. FRANCIS RED FLASH PICKED UP A HOME WIN OVER BRYANT 27-14 ON SATURDAY. THE FLASH ARE NOW 4-5 ON THE SEASON. AND THE LONG SEASON CONTINUED FOR THE JUNIATA COLLEGE EAGLES. JUNIATA WAS SHUT OUT 56-0 BY JOHNS HOPKINS AT HOME ON SATURDAY.

 

HOLLIDAYSBURG, CLAYSBURG AND BELLWOOD ALL PICKED UP DISTRICT 6 PLAYOFF WINS OVER THE WEEKEND, AND ALL WILL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ROUND THIS COMING WEEKEND. BLAIR COUNTY HAS 4 TEAMS REMAINING IN THE DISTRICT AND SUB REGIONAL PLAYOFFS. GAMES WILL RESUME FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. FULL SCHEDULE OF AREA TEAMS COMING LATER THIS WEEK.
