THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS HAVE SUFFERED A MAJOR SETBACK. FORWARD JUSTIN SCHULTZ WILL BE OUT AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT 4 MONTHS AFTER BREAKING HIS LEG DURING SATURDAY NIGHTS LOSS IN MONTREAL.

 

CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM WILL HAVE MORE THAN ONE HOME FLOOR THIS SEASON. A REPORT IN TODAYS MIRROR SUGGESTS THAT THE SPRING COVE SCHOOL BOARD HAS APPROVED AN AGREEMENT WITH PENN STATE ALTOONA FOR ITS BOYS AND GIRLS VARSITY AND JV TEAMS TO PLAY AT LEAST 4 GAMES AT THE NEW ADLER ATHLETIC FACILITY. THE GYM AT CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL IS UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS WHICH INCLUDE NEW BLEACHERS AND FLOORING AT A COST OF $275,000. THOSE GAMES ARE SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER AND JANUARY.

 

A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYER HAS HAD A CHANGE OF HEART, THAT WILL KEEP HIM CLOSE TO HOME FOR COLLEGE. ACCORDING TO WTAJ SPORTS, TYRONE SENIOR QB DENVER LIGHT HAS SWITCHED HIS COLLEGE CHOICE TO PENN STATE. LIGHT HAD COMMITTED TO PLAY AT FORDHAM UNIVERSITY, BUT CHANGED HIS MIND AND SAYS HE WILL BE A PREFERRED WALK ON AT PENN STATE. LIGHT ALSO PLAYS LINEBACKER FOR THE GOLDEN EAGLES.

 

3 HIGH SCHOOL GOLFERS FROM THE REGION HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE PIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD AT THE HERITAGE HILLS GOLF RESORT IN YORK. ANDREW FERGUSON OF TYRONE, TANNER PERSHING OF NORTHERN CAMBRIA AND JARRED TURNER OF BEDFORD ALL QUALIFIED AT YESTERDAYS PIAA WESTERN REGIONAL AT TOMS RUN GOLF COURSE.
