THE LOSS TO OHIO STATE HAS ONCE AGAIN PUT PENN STATE BEHIND THE 8 BALL IN THE BIG 10. THE 27-26 LOSS MEANS THAT THE BUCKEYES WILL HAVE TO LOSE 2 DIVISION GAMES WHILE PENN STATE HAS TO RUN THE TABLE TO WIN ITS DIVISION. BOTH WILL PLAY MICHIGAN LATER IN THE YEAR, BUT OHIO STATE HAS AN 80 PERCENT CHANCE OF GOING UNDEFEATED.

THE NITTANY LIONS ALSO PROBABLY FELL OUT OF THE RUNING FOR ANY CONSIDERATION FOR THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF AT THE END OF THE SEASON. THE LIONS FELL TO NUMBER 11 IN BOTH WEEKLY RANKINGS.

ONE GLARING NOTE FROM THE NOW CONCLUDED MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL SEASON. THE PIRATES, WHO FINISHED WITH A WINNING RECORD, 15 ½ GAMES AHEAD OF THE LAST PLACE REDS IN THE CENTRAL DIVISION, DREW NEARLY 200,000 LESS FANS THAN CINCINNATI THIS SEASON. THE REDS ANNOUNCED THEY DREW SOME 1.62 MILLION FANS, WHILE THE PIRATES DREW ONLY 1.44 MILLION.

SOME NUMBERS FROM THE 2018 SEASON. THE PIRATES RECORD IS 82-79, THEIR FIRST WINNING RECORD SINCE 2015, 3 TEAMS IN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE WON AT LEAST 100 GAMES, WHILE 3 TEAMS LOST MORE THAN 100, INCLUDING BALTIMORE WHO LOST AND INCREDIBLE 115 GAMES. NO TEAM IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE WON OR LOST 100 GAMES. STATS FOR PLAYERS PLAYING IN TODAYS TIE BREAKER GAMES, WILL COUNT FOR THE REGULAR SEASON.
