NEW PITT MENS BASKETBALLCOACH JEFF CAPEL TOLD THE MEDIA YESTERDAY THAT HE WILL NOT LOOK BACK ON LAST SEASON. THE PANTHERS ENDURED A SEASON WHERE THEY LOST ALL 18 REGULAR SEASON ACC CONFERENCE GAMES, AND THEIR FIRST ROUND GAME AGAINST NOTRE DAME. CAPEL, WHO SPENT THE PAST 6 SEASONS AT DUKE, SAID THAT HE AN HIS PLAYERS WANT TO LOOK AHEAD TO A NEW BEGINNING, WHICH INCLUDES A FASTER TEMPO STYLE OF PLAY, WHICH HIS PLAYERS ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO EMBRACE.

THE NEWS FROM HAPPY VALLEY IS NOT SO HAPPY TODAY. BACKUP RUNNING BACK MARK ALLAN HAS BEEN SIDELINED FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON. THAT NEWS WAS RELEASED YESTERDAY BY THE ATHLETIC DEPT. SPECIFICS OF HIS INJURY WERE NOT RELEASED, BUT HIS PLAYING DAYS AT PENN STATE ARE FINISHED.

THE HYPE IS ON FOR THE BIG GAME SATURDAY NIGHT BETWEEN PENN STATE AND OHIO STATE. BOTH COACHES STATED YESTERDAY THAT THIS IS DEFINITELY THE GAME OF THE YEAR FOR BOTH SQUADS. THIS GAME FEATURES THE TOP 2 SCORING TEAMS IN THE NATION, WITH PENN STATE AVERGING 55 POINTS PER GAME, WHILE OHIO STATE IS AVERAGING 54 POINTS PER GAME. THE BUCKEYES ARE LISTED AS A 3 ½ POINT FAVORITE.
