HOLLIDAYSBURG NATIVE SAM LAFFERTY IS ONE STEP AWAY FROM THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE. LAFFERTY PLAYED FOR THE PENGUINS IN 2 EXHIBITION GAMES, INCLUDING SUNDAY’S LOSS TO DETROIT. HOWEVER, LAFFERTY LEARNED HE WAS BEING SENT TO SCRANTON-WILKES BARRE, THE A.H.L. CLUB OF THE PENS. LAFFERTY, A 2018 BROWN UNIVERSITY GRADUATE, IS HOPEFUL HE WILL GET THE CALLUP TO THE PENS AT SOME POINT DURING THE UPCOMING SEASON.

THE NITTANY LIONS WILL BE WITHOUT AN EXPERIENCED BACKUP RUNNING BACK FOR SATURDAY NIGHTS SHOWDOWN. RUNNING BACK MARK ALLEN WAS NOT LISTED ON THE DEPTH CHART FOR THIS WEEKS GAME, LEAVING PENN STATE WITH 2 BACKUPS WITHOUT VERY LITTLE VARSITY EXPERIENCE. THE EXTENT AND NATURE OF ALLEN’s INJURY WAS NOT RELEASED BY THE SCHOOL.
