Beastie Boys members Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz will embark on a book tour in support of their new memoir, Beastie Boys Book, which is due out on October 30th. Each stop will feature “readings, a conversation between Mike D, Ad-Rock and a special guest moderator, plus a Q&A — all with a live score provided by Mix Master Mike.”
The book itself is 592 pages and includes rare photos, original illustrations, a cookbook from chef Roy Choi, a graphic novel, a map of New York according to the Beastie Boys, mixtape playlists, plus pieces by guest contributors including Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson and Amy Poehler, along with other surprises.
The book will cover the entirety of the group’s career, including their transition from teenage punks to budding rappers, the overnight success of their debut studio album Licensed to Ill, their break with Def Jam and rebirth as musicians and social activists with the genre-defying masterpiece Paul’s Boutique, and the tragic death of Adam “MCA” Yauch in 2012 that brought the group to an end.
The tour starts with two New York City events, followed by events in Los Angeles, San Francisco and London. Tickets to the New York events go on sale Friday (September 28th), with pre-sales underway Tuesday (September 25th). The dates are:
October 29 – New York, NY – Town Hall
October 30 – Brooklyn, NY – Kings Theatre
November 3 – Los Angeles, CA – Montalban Theatre
November 4 – Los Angeles, CA – Montalban Theatre
November 5 – San Francisco, CA – City Arts & Lectures At Nourse Theater
