Dave Grohl on Sesame Street 9/18/18

Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl will appear on an upcoming episode of Sesame Street, to help the iconic kids’ educational TV show mark its 50th anniversary in 2019. Puppeteer Ryan Dillon broke the news on his Instagram feed, showing a shot of Grohl with Big Bird and Elmo with the caption: “Dave Grohl was incredible. Thanks for playing with us! A great way to wrap up this week’s shoot!”

The landmark show, which was first broadcast in 1969 on the Public Broadcasting System, features much-loved characters such as Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie, Grover and Cookie Monster.

Grohl has interacted with Muppet characters before, appearing in the 2011 movie The Muppets and challenging Animal the Muppet to a drum-off in 2015. Grohl said about the Muppets in 2011, “I think everybody had Miss Piggy fantasies — she seemed sassy. I always had a thing for Grover, to be honest, and his alter-ego, Super Grover. I had a Super Grover doll growing up.”

The airdate for Grohl’s Sesame Street appearance has yet to be announced. Grohl and the Foos are currently in the midst of a North American tour supporting their 2017 album Concrete And Gold.
