THE ALTOONA CURVE TURNED THE TABLES ON THE TRENTON THUNDER LAST NIGHT. THE CURVE GOT SOME TIMELY HITTING IN THE 2ND AND 3RD INNINGS SCORING ALL 5 RUNS IN A 5-1 VICTORY. THE WIN PUTS ALTOONA IN FIRST PLACE, 1 GAME IN FRONT OF AKRON WITH 4 TO PLAY. AKRON WAS BEATEN BY BOWIE 4-0.

 

THE CURVE PLAYED A SOLID GAME FROM START TO FINISH. SEVERAL TIMES THE THUNDER LEFT MEN IN SCORING POSITION, BUT CURVE PITCHERS LED BY SCOOTER HIGHTOWER HELD THE THUNDER BATS IN CHECK TO PICK UP THE WIN. ALTOONA WILL FINISH THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A 4 GAME SERIES AGAINST THE BOWIE BAYSOX. WHILE AKRON WILL FINISH WITH 4 GAMES IN ERIE. THE PLAYOFFS BEGIN NEXT WEDNESDAY.

 

THE IUP FOOTBALL TEAM, RANKED 4TH IN THE NATION IN DIVISION 2 TO BEGIN THE SEASON, STARTED THEIR SEASON LAST NIGHT WITH A 21-17 WIN OVER ASHLAND IN KENTUCKY. THE CRIMSON HAWKS WILL BEGIN THEIR HOME SEASON NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT BY HOSTING MILLERSVILLE.

 

ONE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME WAS PLAYED LAST NIGHT. SOUTHERN HUNTINGDON DEFEATED NORTHERN BEDFORD 33-28. SOUTHERN IS 2-0 ON THE YOUNG SEASON, WHILE NORTHERN SLIPPED TO 0-2. AND ITS WEEK NUMBER 2 OF THE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEASON…
