THE ALTOONA CURVE HAVE STRENGTHENED THEIR HOLD ON AN EASTERN LEAGUE PLAYOFF SPOT. AFTER GETTING SHUT OUT SATURDAY, THE CURVE BATS CAME TO LIFE YESTERDAY, POUNDING PORTLAND 8-2, TAKING 2 OF 3 GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND. THE CURVE MADE THE MOST OF THEIR 9 HITS, GETTING 8 RUNS TO WIN FOR STARTINGPITCHER DARIO AGRAZAL.

 

THE CURVE CONTINUE THEIR ROAD TRIP TONIGHT WITH THE FIRST OF 2 GAMES AGAINST THE BINGHAMTON RUMBLE PONIES. ALTOONA WILL BE BACK HOME FOR A 10 GAME HOMESTAND BEGINNING WEDNESDAY AGAINST 3RD PLACE HARRISBURG. THE CURVE LEAD THE SENATORS BY 4 ½ GAMES FOR A PLAYOFF SPOT WITH JUST 2 WEEKS LEFT IN THE REGULAR SEASON.

 

THE STATE COLLEGE SPIKES ARE MAKING A HARD CHARGE TO TRY AND MAKE THE NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE PLAYOFFS. THE SPIKES BEAT MAHONING VALLEY YESTERDAY 5-3, MOVING TO 2 GAMES UNDER .500. THE SPIKES WILL PLAY A DOUBLEHEADER WITH WILLIAMSPORT TODAY AT MEDLAR FIELD, THEN WILL TRAVEL TO WILLIAMSPORT TOMORROW.
