THINGS ARE LOOKING GOOD FOR THE ALTOONA CURVE FOR A RETURN TRIP TO THE EASTERN LEAGUE PLAYOFFS. THE CURVE BEAT NEW HAMPSHIRE LAST NIGHT 3-2 FOR THEIR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN. JIN-DE JHANG STOKED A 2 RUN DOUBLE IN THE 7TH INNINSG TO GIVE ALTOONA THE WIN, WHILE NEWCOMER JAMES MARVEL TOSSED 7 INNINGS OF 4 HIT BALL, GIVING UP JUST 1 RUN IN HIS SECOND START FOR ALTOONA. MATT ECKELMAN PICKED UP HIS 8TH SAVE.

 

THE WIN PUT ALTOONA JUST 1 ½ GAMES BEHIND AKRON FOR FIRST PLACE. AKRON LOST TO BINGHAMTON LAST NIGHT 5-4. ALTOONA ALSO TIGHTENED ITS GRIP ON SECOND PLACE, BECAUSE HARRISBURG LOST TO ERIE, GIVING THE CURVE A 4 GAME CUSHION FOR SECOND PLACE. THE FINAL GAME OF THE SERIES WITH NEW HAMPSHIRE IS TONIGHT AT 7:05.

 

PENN STATE HAS LOST AN INCOMING TRACK STAR TO HOMICIDE. REPORTS INDICATE THAT 18 YEAR OLD KRISTIAN MARCHE WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN HIS PHILADELPHIA HOME EARLIER THIS WEEK. MARSHE WAS A TRACK STAR AT IMHOTEP CHARTER SCHOOL AND WAS HEADED TO PENN STATE FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR. POLICE SAY THIS WAS A TARGETED KILLING AND ARE SEEKING THE PUBLICS HELP.
