THE ALTOONA CURVE MISSED OUT ON A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO PICK UP GROUND LAST NIGHT. THE CURVE LOST TO TRENTON 2-1, AND LOST OUT ON A CHANCE TO INCREASE ITS LEAD OVER HARRISBURG, AND PICK UP GROUND ON AKRON. BOTH THE SENATORS AND RUBBERDUCKS LOST LAST NIGHT, KEEPING THE CURVE 4 GAMES OUT OF FIRST PLACE, BUT 3 GAMES UP ON HARRISBURG FOR SECOND PLACE.

 

THE FINAL GAME OF THE TRENTON SERIES IS TONIGHT AT 7 PM. EDUARDO VERA WILL PITCH FOR THE CURVE. ALTOONA COMES HOME FOR A 4 GAME WEEKEND SERIES AGAINST ERIE BEGINNING TOMORROW NIGHT. THE TEAMS WILL PLAY A DOUBLE HEADER ON SATURDAY.

 

ALTOONA CONTINUES TO WIN IN THE AAABA TOURNAMENT IN JOHNSTOWN. ALTOONA BEAT UP ON YOUNGSTOWN 14-4 YESTERDAY TO WIN POOL PLAY IN ITS DIVISION. THE TOURNEY WILL NOW GO INTO SINGLE ELIMINATION MODE. ALTOONA PLAYS BUFFALO THIS MORNING AT 10:00 AT POINT STADIUM. ALTOONA IS ONE OF 3 TEAMS STILL UNDEFEATED IN THE TOURNEY, ALONG WITH JOHNSTOWN MARTELLA’s PHARMACY.

 

A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYER HAS COMMITTED TO PLAYING COLLEGE BASKETBALL. CARANDA PEREA OF ALTOONA HIGH SCHOOL HAS ANNOUNCED SHE HAS COMMITTED TO PLAYING COLLEGIATELY AT GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY. EARLIER THIS SUMMER, BRIGID FOX ANNOUNCED HER INTENTION TO PLAY AT DETROIT MERCY.
