THE ALTOONA CURVE BEGAN THE PUSH FOR THE PLAYOFFS ON A HIGH NOTE. THE CURVE BEAT THE TRENTON THUNDER 5-1 LAST NIGHT ON THE ROAD. WITH THE WIN, ALTOONA MOVED TO JUST 4 GAMES BEHIND AKRON FOR THE DIVISION LEAD. LAST NIGHT’s GAME FEATURED A 56 MINUTE RAIN DELAY.

 

LOGAN SENDELBACH PICKED UP THE WIN IN RELIEF FOR ALTOONA AFTER STARTING PITCHER SCOOTER HIGHTOWER WAS EJECTED IN THE 2ND INNING FOR ALLEGEDLY THROWING AT THE HEAD OF A TRENTON BATTER. GAME 2 OF THE SERIES IS SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT AT ARM & HAMMER PARK.

 

ALTOONA CONTINUED ITS WINNING WAYS IN THE NATIONAL AAABA BASEBALL TOURNEY. ALTOONA BEAT COLUMBUS 7-4 YESTERDAY TO MOVE TO 2-0 IN POOL PLAY OF THE WEEK LONG TOURNAMENT. ALTOONA WILL PLAY YOUNGSTOWN THIS AFTERNOON AT 1:00 AT THE JOHNSTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL. MARTELLAS OF JOHNSTOWN IS ALSO 2-0 IN POOL PLAY.

 

THE PENN STATE CLASS OF 2019 RECRUITS CONTINUES TO GROW. THE NITTANY LIONS RECEIVED A COMMMITTMENT FROM ANTHONY WHIGAN, WHO WILL BE A JUCO TRANSFER FROM LACKAWANA COLLEGE IN SCRANTON. THIS BRINGS THE ’19 RECRUITING CLASS TO 16 PLAYERS. WHIGAN IS LISTED AS THE NUMBER 1 JUCO OFFENSIVE TACKLE ACCORDING TO 247-SPORTS. (JUCO STANDS FOR JUNIOR COLLEGE).
