GOOD WEEKEND FOR THE ALTOONA CURVE. THE CURVE TOOK 3 OF 4 FROM BINGHAMTON WITH A 4-3 WIN SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT PNG FIELD. THE WIN KEPT ALTOONA 3 GAMEWS N FRONT OF HARRISBURG FOR SECOND PLACE IN THE WESTERN DIVISION. THE CURVE BULLPEN PITCHED 5 INNNGS TO PRESERVE THE WIN.

 

THE ENTIRE EASTERN LEAGUE IS OFF TODAY. ALTOONA WILL GO TO HARRISBURG FOR A 3 GAME SERIES BEGINNING TOMORROW NIGHT, AND RETURN HOME FOR THE WEEKEND TO TAKE ON AKRON. THESE 3 TEAMS ARE FIGHTING FOR THE 2 PLAYOFF SPOTS FROM THE WESTERN DIVISION.

 

THE KELLEY FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IS FINALLY IN THE BOOKS, AND ONCE AGAIN, MARTIN OIL SITS ATOP THE LEAGUE. MARTIN DEFEATED TYRONE LEGION 8-1 LAST NIGHT AT VETS FIELD TO CAPTURE IT FIRST TITLE SINCE 2014. BELLWOOD WON 3 STRAIGHT TITLES FROM 2012-14. THE SERIES TOOK 9 DAYS TO PLAY, DUE TO SEVERAL RAINOUTS.

 

A BLAIR COUNTY TEAM HAS CAPTURED A VFW STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. SPRING COVE DEFEATED MT. UNION 5-4 AND 11-0 YESTERDAY TO CAPTURE THE 13-14 YEAR OLD VFW STATE TOURNAMENT OVER THE WEEKEND IN LEBANON.

 

HOLLIDAYSBURG WILL PLAY HUNTINGDON IN THE VFW 15-16 YEAR OLD TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS TODAY IN HUNTINGDON. BOTH HOLLIDAYSBURG AND HUNTINGDON ARE 2-0 SO FAR IN THE DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT. THEY PLAY AT 9:00 THIS MORNING.
