THE FINAL GAME OF THE SERIES BETWEEN ALTOONA AND READING TOOK AS LONG TO PLAY AS THE DOUBLEHEADER THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO PLAY.

THE CURVE TOOK A 4-0 LEAD INTO THE 7TH INNING OF GAME 1, BUT READING SCORED 3 RUNS TO MAKE IT 4-3. THEN WITH ALTOONA NEEDING JUST 1 STRIKE TO END THE GAME, THE RAINS CAME AND DELAYED THE GAME FOR NEARLY 3 HOURS. ONCE, PLAY RESUMED, READING TIED THE GAME AT 4 TO SEND IT TO EXTRA INNINGS. IN THE 8TH INNING, AN ERROR BY NEWCOMER ALFREDO REYES ALLOWED THE WINNING RUN TO SCORE, CAPPING OFF A WILD 5-4 WIN FOR THE PHILS. THE SECOND GAME OF THE TWINBILL WAS CANCELLED.

THE GAME WILL NOT BE MADE UP BECAUSE THE 2 TEAMS DO NOT PLAY EACH OTHER AGAIN THIS SEASON. THIS WILL NOW REDUCE THE CURVE’s REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE TO 138 GAMES. ALTOONA WILL BE IN AKRON TONIGHT TO BEGIN A 3 GAME SET AGAINST THE 1ST PLACE RUBBERDUCKS. THE CURVE TRAIL THE DUCKS BY 7 GAMES IN THE WESTERN DIVISION.

GAME 2 OF THE KELLEY FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIP IS SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT AT VETS FIELD. TYRONE LEGION LEADS MARTIN OIL 1 GAME TO NONE. GAME 2 WAS RAINED OUT BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IS A BEST OF 5.
