THE ALTOONA CURVE BEGAN THEIR 7 GAME ROAD TRIP WITH AN IMPRESSIVE 8-2 WIN OVER THE RREADING FIGHTIN PHILS LAST NIGHT. STEPHEN ALEMAIS HAD THE BIG NIGHT AT THE PLATE, GOING 4-5,WHILE 4 OTHER CURVE PLAYERS HAD AT LEAST 2 HITS IN THE 14 HIT ATTACK. CAM VIEAUX PICKED UP HIS 6TH WIN FOR ALTOONA, GIVING UP 2 RUNS. THE SERIES WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT WITH A DOUBLEHEADER SCHEDULED TO BEGIN AT 5:35 IN READING.

 

NEXT WEEK, THE CURVE ARE SCHEDULED TO HOST THE BINGHAMTON RUMBLE PONIES, WHO ARE FEATURING FORMER FLORIDA AND NFL QB TIM TEBOW ON THEIR ROSTER. BUT WORD IS OUT THAT TEBOW MAY HAVE SUFFERED A HAND OR WRIST INJURY, AND HIS STATUS IS UNKNOWN. HE WAS PULLED FROM BINGHAMTON’S GAME AGAINST TRENTON LAST NIGHT WITH THE INJURY. HE WILL HAVE AN MRI TODAY.

 

THE GEORGE B. KELLEY BASEBALL FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES WILL BEGIN TONIGHT IN ALTOONA. TYRONE LEGION WILL GO UP AGAINST MARTIN OIL OF BELLWOOD IN THE BEST OF 5 SERIES. THE FEDERATION WILL NOT BE SENDING A TEAM TO THE NABF WORLD SERIES IN OHIO BECAUSE OF SCHEDULING CONFLICTS WITH ITS PLAYOFFS. ALL GAMES IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES WILL BE PLAYED AT VETS FIELD.

 

A BLAIR COUNTY TRADITION WILL ADD A NEW CHAPTER BEGINNING TOMORROW. THE DEAN PATTERSON LITTLE WORLD SERIES WILL GET UNDERWAY AT THE LOGAN TWP YOUTH BASEBALL FIELD. 20 TEAMS WILL TAKE PART IN THE WEEK LONG TOURNAMENT. OPENING CEREMONIES WILL BEGIN AT 10:00 TOMORROW MORNING. THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WILL BE PLAYED NEXT SATURDAY.
