THE ALTOONA CURVE CAUGHT FIRE OVER THE WEEKEND, BUT NOW WILL COOL OFF. AFTER LOSING THE FIRST 2 GAMES OF THE SERIES, THE CURVE STORMED BACK TO WIN THE FINAL 3 OF THE EXTENDED SERIES, INCLUDING YESTERDAYS 3-2 WALK OFF WIN BEFORE SOME 4600 CURVE FANS AT PNG FIELD.

 

LOGAN HILL SINGLED IN THE WINNING RUN IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 9TH INNING, SCORING WILL CRAIG FROM 3RD BASE TO BREAK A 2-2 TIE AND GIVE THE CURVE THE WIN. ALTOONA WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THRUSDAY TO TRY AND IMPROVE ON THEIR 3 GAME WIN STREAK, WHEN THEY HIT THE ROAD TO PLAY IN ERIE.

 

GOING INTO THE BREAK, ALTOONA IS IN SECOND PLACE IN THE WESTERN DIVISION, 3 ½ GAMES BEHIND AKRON FOR.

 

THE CURVE WILL BE WELL REPRESENTED AT THE EASTERN LEAGUE ALL STAR GAME WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN TRENTON. WILL CRAIG, KE’BRYAN HAYES, SEAN KESELICA AND TAYLOR HEARN WILL REPRESENT THE CURVE ON THE WWESTERN DIVISION TEAM. ALSO, HAYES AND FORMER CURVE PITCHER MITCH KELLER WILL TAKE PART IN THE FUTURES GAME THIS SUNDAY IN WASHINGTON, TO KICK OFF ALL STAR WEEK FOR MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL.

 

THE STATE COLLEGE SPIKES HAVE HIT THE BOTTOM. THE SPIKES FIND THEMSELVES IN LAST PLACE OF THE PINCKNEY DIVISION OF THE NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE AFTER DROPPING AN 8-3 DECISION LAST NIGHT AT BATAVIA. THE SERIES WRAPS UP IN BATAVIA TONIGHT.
