THE ALTOONA CURVE WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THURSDAY TO PLAY ON ITS HOME FIELD. THE CURVE AND IUP WERE SCHEDULED TO PLAY AN EXHIBITION GAME YESTERDAY, BUT WERE CANCELED BY MOTHER NATURE’S EARLY SPRING SNOW STORM. THE CURVE WILL OPEN THEIR SEASON THURSDAY AGAINST AKRON AT 6:00.

 

PENN STATE IS LOSING A VALUABLE MEMBER OF THE MENS BASKETBALL TEAM. GUARD TONY CARR ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT HE WILL ENTER THE UPCOMING NBA DRAFT IN JUNE. AFTER HELPING PENN STATE WIN THE N.I.T. TOURNAMENT, CARR DECIDED TO FOREGO HIS REMAINING 2 YEARS IN COLLEGE. HE SAID HE WILL SIGN WITH AN AGENT, WHICH MEANS THAT HE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN TO PENN STATE IF HE DOES NOT GET DRAFTED.

 

LUKE RHODES WILL STAY ON WITH THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS AS THEIR LONG SNAPPER. RHODES, A HOLLIDAYSBURG HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCT, SIGNED HIS 2018 RIGHTS TENDER, WHICH MEANS HE WILL BE ON THE TEAM FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON. RHODES PLAYED IN ALL 16 GAMES LAST SEASON FOR INDY.

 

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL ARE HAVING A TOUGH TIME GETTING STARTED WITH ALL THE INCLEMENT WEATHER HITTING THE REGION. 13 GAMES IN ALL WERE POSTPONED YESTERDAY, WITH ANOTHER FULL SLATE OF GAMES SCHEDULED FOR TODAY.
