THE PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS MISSED ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO ENHANCE ITS RESUME FOR THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. MICHIGAN LED FOR MOST OF THE CONTEST LAST NIGHT AND HUNG ON FOR A 72-63 WIN AT THE BJC. PENN STATE FELL TO 19-11 AND WILL WRAP UP THE REGULAR SEASON THIS WEEKEND AT NEBRASKA. THE LIONS WILL ENTER THE QUARTEFINAL ROUND OF THE BIG 10 TOURNEY IN A FEW WEEKS.

 

THE PENN STATE ALTOONA MENS BASKETBALL TEAM ALSO LOST LAST NIGHT. THE LIONS WERE BEATEN AT HOME BY  HILBERT COLLEGE 77-72. THE LOSS ENDED THE LIONS SEASON WITH A 17-9 RECORD.

 

THE JUNIATA COLLEGE MENS AND WOMENS TEAMS ARE HEADED TO THE LANDMARK CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. THE MEN DEFEATED CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY 77-70 LAST NIGHT, WHILE THE WOMEN BEAT ELIZABETHTOWN 78-55. THE MEN WILL PLAY MORAVIAN AT HOME THIS SATURDAY AT 2:00, WHILE THE WOMEN WILL TRAVEL TO SCRANTON FOR THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ALSO ON SATURDAY.

 

THE ST. FRANCIS RED FLASH ARE ON THE ROAD TONIGHT. THE FLASH WILL TAKE ON FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON IN A 7:00 TIPOFF. THE FLASH ARE 16-11 THIS SEASON, GOOD FOR 3RD PLACE IN THE NORTHEAST CONFERENCE. THE FLASH WON THE FIRST MEETING BACK ON FEB 1ST, 74-60.

 

THE PIRATES MADE A TRAINING CAMP SIGNING YESTERDAY. THE BUCS SIGNED OUTFIELDER MICHAEL SAUNDERS TO A MINOR LEAGUE CONTRACT, WITH AN INVITE TO BIG LEAGUE SPRING TRAINING. SAUNDER IS A FORMER ALL STAR OUTFIELDER WITH TORONTO. SAUNDERS COULD BE PENCILED IN FOR THE STARTING LEFT FIELDERS JOB WITH THE BUCS IF HE MAKES THE TEAM.
