THE CLOCK STRUCK 12 FOR THE HOMER CENTER FOOTBALL TEAM YESTERDAY. THE WILDCATS TOOK AN EARLY 6-0 LEAD IN THEIR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST JEANETTE, BUT THE LEAD DID NOT LAST LONG, JEANETTE GOT OUT TO A 23-6 HALFTIME LEAD AND ROLLED TO A 42-12 WIN IN THE CLASS 1A TITLE GAME. HOMER CENTER FINISHED THE SEASON WITH A 13-2 RECORD. IN THE CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, ERIE CATHEDRAL PREP DEFEATED IMHOTEP CHARTER 38-28.

 

THE IUP CRIMSON HAWKS GR FOR A SPOT IN THE DIVISION 2 NATIONAL CHMPIONSHIP GAME TOMORROW. UP WILL HOST WEST FLORIDA AT MILLER STADIUM, WITH A SPOT IN THE NATIONAL TITLE GAME AT STAKE. IUP IS 13-0 AND LOOKING FOR ITS FIRST SHOT AT A NATIONAL TITLE SINCE 1999. GAME TIME IS SET FOR 12 NOON.

 

WHILE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IS WINDING UP ITS 2017 SEASON, HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL IS READY TO TIP THINGS OFF TONIGHT. MANY BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS IN THE REGION ARE HOSTING SEASON OPENING TOURNAMENTS TO KICK OFF THE NEW CAMPAIGN. REGULAR SEASON OPENERS FOR BOYS INCLUDE TYRONE VISITING RIVAL BELLWOOD, FOREST HILLS TRAVELING TO CENTRAL AND NO. BEDFORD VISITING BEDFORD. ON THE GIRLS SIDE, WILLIAMSBURG VISITS HARMONY. MOST OTHER SCHOOLS ARE TAKING PART IN THE OPENING WEEKEND TOURNAMENTS.
