THE HEISMAN TROPHY WILL NOT BE COMING TO HAPPY VALLEY. THE FINALISTS FOR THE TOP AWARD IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL WERE ANNOUNCED LAST NIGHT, AND JUNIOR SAQUAN BARKLEY WAS NOT AMONG THEM. MANY PENN STATE PLAYERS AND FANS TEXTED THEIR ANGER THAT BARKLEY WAS NOT SELECTED AS A FINALIST. BARKLEY HAS NOT ANNOUNCED IF HE WILL RETURN FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON IN 2018.

 

PENN STATE LOST A TOUGH ONE AT HOME LAST NIGHT. WISCONSIN WITHSTOOD THE FINAL SHOT FROM THE NITTANY LIONS TO ESCAPE WITH A 64-63 VICTORY AT THE BRYCE JORDAN CENTER. PENN STATE FOUGHT BACK FROM 17 DOWN IN THE SECOND HALF TO GET BACK WITHIN ONE POINT, BUT COULD NOT PULL OUT THE WIN. THEY ARE NOW 7-3 ON THE SEASON, 1-1 IN THE BIG 10.

 

THE ST. FRANCIS MENS TEAM IS IN THE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT AGAIN TONIGHT. THE RED FLASH ARE IN DURHAM , NORTH CAROLINA TO TAKE ON THE NUMBER ONE RANKED DUKE BLUE DEVILS ON THE HARDWOOD. DUKE IS 10-0 SO FAR THIS SEASON, WHILE ST. FRANCIS IS 3-4. TIPOFF IS SET FOR 9 PM. THE GAME CAN BE SEEN ON ESPNU.

 

HOMER CITY NATIVE BEN McADOO IS OUT OF A JOB TODAY. McADOO WAS FIRED YESTERDAY BY THE NEW YORK GIANTS AS THEIR HEAD COACH. McADOO COMPILED A 13-16 RECORD AS HEAD COACH, WITH HIS TEAMS NEVER SCORING MORE THAN 30 POINTS IN ANY OF THOSE GAMES. MARK SPAGNOLO WILL TAKE OVER AS INTERIM COACH TO FINISH THE SEASON.
