THE 3 YEAR REIGN AS STATE CHAMPIONS FOR THE BISHOP GUILFOYLE FOOTBALL TEAM IS OVER. THE MARAUDERS WERE UPSET BY HOMER CENTER 20-14 FRIDAY NIGHT AT MANSION PARK. THE LOSS WAS BG’s FIRST SINCE 2013, THAT ONE WAS ALSO TO HOMER CENTER. THE MARAUDERS 59 GAME WINNING STREAK WAS SNAPPED. THAT TIES THE SECOND LONGEST IN STATE FOOTBALL HISTORY. HOMER CENTER WILL GET ITS SHOT AT HERSHEY THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, WHEN THEY TAKE ON STEELTON-HIGHSPIRE AT HOLLIDAYSBURG HIGH SCHOOL AT 7 PM IN THE STATE CLASS 1A SEMI-FINALS.

 

THE HOLLIDAYSBURG GOLDEN TIGERS PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT, BUT FELL TO GATEWAY 49-30 SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT MANSION PARK, IN THE PIAA CLASS 5A QUARTERFINALS. THE TIGERS TRAILED BY 11 AT HALFTIME, BUT GAVE UP A TOUCHDOWN ON THE SECOND PLAY OF THE 3RD QUARTER WHICH PUT THE GAME OUT OF REACH. THE TIGERS FINISHED THEIR SEASON AT 8-4.

 

THE IUP CRIMSON HAWKS CONTINUE THEIR QUEST FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. THE HAWKS CRUISED BY WEST CHESTER 44-10 SATURDAY IN THE DIVISION 2 SUPER REGIONAL SEMI-FINALS. IUP WILL NOW PLAY ASSUMPTION COLLEGE THIS SATURDAY AT MILLER FIELD, IN THE REGIONAL FINAL. A WIN WILL PUT IUP INTO THE FINAL FOUR OF DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL.

 

THERE WILL BE A SHAKEUP IN THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF POLL. BOTH ALABAMA AND MIAMI RANKED 1 AND 2 WERE BEATEN OVER THE WEEKEND. NUMBER 8 NOTRE DAME ALSO LOST ON SATURDAY. THE POLL WILL BE RELEASED TOMORROW NIGHT ON ESPN.
