IT’S THE END OF THE LINE FOR TWO AREA TEAMS TRYING TO ADVANCE TO PIAA STATE FINALS. THE BISHOP CARROLL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM WAS DEFEATED BY MARIAN CATHOLIC LAST NIGHT 3-1 IN THE CLASS 1A SEMI-FINALS, AND THE BEDFORD GIRLS SOCCER TEAM LOST ITS STATE SEMI-FINAL TO MERCYHURST PREP 1-0 IN CLASS 2A.

 

BISHOP CARROLL HAS LANDED IN A NEW CONFERENCE FOR FOOTBALL. IT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED THAT THE HUSKIES WILL JOIN THE MOUNTAIN LEAGUE FOR THE 2018 SEASON. CARROLL WAS OUSTED FROM THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS CONFERENCE EARLIER THIS YEAR. THE NEW AGREEMENT IS FOR 2 YEARS, WITH THE SCHOOL JOINING AS AN ASSOCIATE MEMBER IN THE 2020 SCHOOL YEAR. ALL REMAINING SPORTS WILL CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS CONFERENCE.

 

THE LATEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF POLL WAS RELEASED LAST NIGHT. PENN STATE LANDED AT NUMBER 10, UP 4 SPOTS FROM LAST WEEK AFTER THEIR WIN OVER RUTGERS. THE LIONS COULD GET A NEW YEARS DAY BOWL BID IF THEY WIN THEIR REMAINING 2 GAMES AGAINST NEBRASKA AND MARYLAND.

 

THE ST. FRANCIS RED FLASH MENS BASKETBALL TEAM HAS STUMBLED OUT OF THE GATE. THE FLASH LOST THEIR SECOND GAME IN AS MANY STARTS ON MONDAY NIGHT, 75-63 TO SAN FRANCISCO ON THE WEST COAST.
