THE ALTOONA CURVE ARE NOT MAKING IT EASY ON THEMSELVES. THE CURVE LOST TO RICHMOND LAST NIGHT 6-1, WHICH DENIED THEM A CHANCE TO INCREASE THEIR DIVISION LEAD OVER BOWIE. THE BAYSOX LOST TO TRENTON, KEEPING THE CURVE’S LEAD AT 1 GAME. THE CURVE WRAP UP THEIR ROAD TRIP IN RICHMOND TONIGHT AT 6:35.

 

THE CURVE WILL FINISH THE REGULAR SEASON AT HOME THIS WEEKEND WITH A 4 GAME SERIES WITH THE HARRISBURG SENATORS. THE CURVE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CLINCH A DIVISION TITLE WITH SEVERAL VICTORIES, DEPENDING ON WHAT BOWIE DOES IN THEIR FINAL SERIES. THERE ARE ONLY 5 GAMES LEFT IN THE REGULAR SEASON.

 

THE STATE COLLEGE SPIKES GAINED GROUND IN THE PINCKNEY DIVISION RACE LAST NIGHT. THE SPIKES BEAT WEST VIRGINIA 3-2 TO CLIMB TO WITHIN 2 ½ GAME OF FIRST PLACE. THE SPIKES WILL PLAY MAHONING VALLEY AT HOME THIS WEEKEND BEGINNING TONIGHT.

 

COLLEGE BASKETBALL LOST ONE OF ITS MOST COLORFUL FIGURES YESTERDAY. FORMER VILLANOVA COACH ROLLIE MASSIMINO PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 82. MASSIMINO WAS FAMOUS FOR LEADING THE WILDCATS TO THE 1985 NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP OVER NUMBER 1 GEORGETOWN. MASSIMINO PRESENTED DOUG WEST FOR INDUCTION INTO THE BLAIR COUNTY SPORTS HALL OF FAME IN 2004.
