South Carolina man starts GoFundMe to ‘protect Betty White from 2016’

A South Carolina man is hoping to deter fate from taking away actress Betty White in the few days left of this year by starting a GoFundMe page. Demetrios Hrysikos of Spartanburg, South Carolina says he started the crowdfunding page to “protect” the Golden Girls actress from the string of celebrity deaths that took place in 2016. He wrote, “Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White! If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan.. 1, 2017.” He says if White declines his “protection” he will donate the campaign funds to a local theater. Word about the campaign quickly spread and it gathered $2,141 from 201 individual backers within its first 19 hours.
