Carrie Underwood Invites Crystal Gayle to Join the Grand Ole Opry

After nearly half of a century of performing on the Grand Ole Opry, Crystal Gayle will officially become a member on January 21st. Her sister, Loretta Lynn, will oversee her induction.

Carrie Underwood made a surprise appearance on Tuesday night’s show to invite the 65-year-old legend to join the family and sing along on her signature hit, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”

Gayle made her Opry debut onstage at the Ryman Auditorium when she was just 16. That night, she performed in place of Lynn, who was too ill make her scheduled appearance.

Gayle is a two-time CMA and three-time ACM female vocalist of the year.
