The Season Wasn’t A Total Wash

The Pittsburgh Pirates played their final game on Sunday of the 2016 season.  No Playoffs..not even the Wild Card that so many Bucco fans bemoaned about during the last three years (wish you could enjoy that stupid one game playoff now, don’tcha?).  But although Pittsburgh finished a disappointing 78 and 83, and in third place behind the “Smarmy Scrubs” and St. Louis, some good things came about…We finally got to see the highly touted debuts of Josh Bell, Jameson Taillon, and Tyler Glasnow, and while they didn’t set the baseball world on fire, I believe they give all of us Pirates fans a glimpse at how strong our team is.  Let’s not forget surprises like Adam Frazier and Chad Kuhl too!  A couple of off season acquisitions like Matt Joyce, John Jaso, and David Freese showed the “Pirate Brass” still can find good talent to help too.  Marte, McCutchen, and Cervelli were disappointing to me, but Polanco, Mercer, and Rodriguez all looked good.  Kang and JayHay showed some sparks too!  So, settle in, let’s watch some football and hockey for a few months, because before you know it February will be here, Spring training will start, and we can all start hoping again!!  LET’S GO BUCS!!
